Your first prenatal midwife visit might take a little bit longer than subsequent appointments. Your midwife evaluates your weight, blood pressure, pulse, and other vital signs. They ask about your health history, family history of disease, past diagnoses, and medications you might take.
Your midwife completes a comprehensive physical exam, including a pelvic exam and Pap test, to ensure you’re in good health or detect problems before complications arise.
They might complete a transvaginal ultrasound to view your baby, depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy, as well as a urine test and blood tests. Your provider calculates your due date and answers any questions you might have.
